Manual top side sealing machine

I. Equipment Overview

This equipment is suitable for the encapsulation of the top edge, side edge, and airbag corner positions of soft pack lithium batteries, short-circuit testing, robotic arm unloading, and code spraying.

II. Operation Process

  1. Manually place the battery into the loading station of the six-station turntable.

  2. Start the automatic operation.

  3. The turntable rotates automatically to the top edge encapsulation station without any light curtain sensing.

  4. The turntable rotates to the side edge encapsulation station.

  5. The turntable rotates to the short-circuit testing station.

  6. The turntable rotates to the corner pressing station.

  7. The turntable rotates to the unloading station.

  8. The robotic arm automatically unloads the battery onto the waterline conveyor, and the conveyor moves the battery for code spraying.

1. Mechanism Function

  • Top and Side Sealing Mechanism: Includes sealing head seat, copper heating block, copper sealing head, sealing cylinder, guide post, bearing, heating tube, independent temperature control (one set each for upper and lower sealing heads), and fixed installation and adjustment parts. Used for sealing battery tabs.

  • Flat Press Battery Short-Circuit Testing Mechanism: Includes short-circuit tester, test probe, upper and lower movable cylinders, guide post bearings, and fixed installation parts. Used for testing the short circuit of the battery’s positive and negative electrodes.

  • Corner Pressing Mechanism: Includes sealing head seat, copper heating block, copper sealing head, sealing cylinder, slide rail slider, heating tube, independent temperature control (two sets each for upper and lower sealing heads), and fixed installation and adjustment parts. Used for sealing the bottom corners of the battery.

2. Detailed Action Description

  1. Manually place the battery cell into the aluminum plastic packaging film, straighten the tabs and align the top seal with the upper and lower sides, fold the bottom edge of the side seal manually, and place it into the turntable fixture to fix the battery cell tightly.

  2. Select automatic mode on the touch screen, then press the dual start buttons. The motor drives the divider to rotate the battery to the top sealing station, and the motor stops when the photoelectric switch is deactivated.

  3. The bottom cylinder of the top sealing head raises the lower sealing head to align with the battery’s top seal edge, then the upper cylinder drives the upper sealing head to perform the top sealing.

  4. When there are no obstacles between the two pairs of photoelectric curtains on the side of the worktable, the motor drives the divider to rotate the battery to the side sealing station, and the motor stops when the photoelectric switch is deactivated. Otherwise, the turntable does not move.

  5. The bottom cylinder of the side sealing head raises the lower sealing head to align with the battery’s side seal edge, then the upper cylinder drives the upper sealing head to perform the side sealing.

  6. When there are no obstacles between the two pairs of photoelectric curtains on the side of the worktable, the motor drives the divider to rotate the battery to the flat press short-circuit testing station, and the motor stops when the photoelectric switch is deactivated. Otherwise, the turntable does not move.

  7. The bottom cylinder of the flat press mechanism raises to the bottom surface of the battery clamp, and the upper cylinder descends to press the battery cell. The lower cylinder of the short-circuit tester raises the conductive block to the lower surface of the tabs, and the upper cylinder drives the high-current probe to contact the tabs. The internal resistance tester checks if the battery is qualified.

  8. When there are no obstacles between the two pairs of photoelectric curtains on the side of the worktable, the motor drives the divider to rotate the battery to the corner sealing station, and the motor stops when the photoelectric switch is deactivated. Otherwise, the turntable does not move.

  9. Two sets of lower corner sealing cylinders raise the lower corner sealing heads to align with the side seal edge, and two sets of upper corner sealing cylinders lower the upper corner sealing heads to contact the aluminum plastic film for corner sealing. Note: Short-circuit batteries are not corner sealed.

  10. When there are no obstacles between the two pairs of photoelectric curtains on the side of the worktable, the motor drives the divider to rotate the battery to the side seal cutting and clamp opening station, and the motor stops when the photoelectric switch is deactivated. Otherwise, the turntable does not move.
